The “/etc” folder on osX

This is a commentary on what NOT to do when your spring cleaning on your mac. I recently upgraded my main hard drive and used the disk tool on Tiger. No real problem, however, the etc, tmp and var folders that are usually hidden showed up on the new installation. Yes, I knew to never erase that folder but somehow i got the idea to delete them. My thought was that maybe it was useless and that is why it became visible. So what is the endgame. I fought with commandlines and unix tricks. Nothing worked, so i decided to back up and wipe it. Oh well. everyonce in a while you got to.
